Our commitments to
safeguarding, structure, and
neurodiversity
affirming care.
Please review our core policies below. By enrolling your child at
Lumina Preparatory School, you agree to adhere to these frameworks
These are designed to protect and support our entire community.
Lumina School is committed to ensuring the safety, protection and wellbeing of every child. All staff undergo background checks, safeguarding training, and follow strict procedures for reporting concerns.
Any member of staff who becomes aware of potential harm, abuse or risk must report it immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Parents may be contacted if concerns arise, and in serious cases, Lumina is legally required to involve the appropriate authorities.
Children are never left unsupervised, and only authorised adults may collect them.
Lumina follows a calm, neurodiversity-affirming approach to behaviour. We prioritise emotional regulation, sensory needs, and positive behavioural support. Punitive or fear-based methods are never used.
Staff use gentle prompts, structured routines, visual supports, and co-regulation strategies to help children feel safe. Behaviour is understood as communication, and all responses are child-centred and compassionate.
Parents may raise concerns through the formal communication channels. All complaints must be submitted to the Admin Office, where they will be logged and forwarded to the Headmaster. If unresolved, the matter may be escalated to the CEO.
All concerns are handled professionally, fairly and in a timely manner. Emotional or informal discussions at drop-off or pick-up are not permitted to ensure clarity and safety.
Lumina maintains high safety and hygiene standards, including secure premises, staff supervision, clean classrooms, and routine fire drills. Medical emergencies are handled by trained staff, and parents are contacted immediately when needed.
Children must remain home when unwell, and medication can only be administered when formally submitted with documentation. Safety protocols protect all children and staff.
Admissions are handled by the Admin Office and the Headmaster. Lumina assesses each child’s needs to ensure an appropriate level of support can be provided. Required documents include birth certificate, medical information, and any previous reports.
A one-time registration fee applies. Successful applicants receive a start date and an induction checklist. Placement may depend on capacity and the level of support required.
Regular attendance supports children's regulation and progress. Parents must inform the school of absences before 8:00am.
Late arrivals disrupt routines and may affect a child’s regulation. Children arriving after 8:30am are marked late. Early pick-up requires advance notice and must be handled through the Admin Office.
Standard tuition is charged monthly in advance. Higher-needs support levels may incur additional costs. A 3-day grace period is offered for late payments before a penalty may apply.
Continued non-payment may result in temporary suspension of attendance. No refunds are provided for absences, holidays, or short-term illness. Lumina Lite (ASC) and Wonder Warehouse sessions are charged per use.
All communication must go through the Admin Office or Headmaster. Teachers do not communicate via WhatsApp, personal numbers, or voice notes. Professional boundaries ensure clarity, privacy and safety.
Response times: Admin within 24 hours, Headmaster within 48 hours, CEO within 72 hours. No confrontational discussions may occur on school grounds.
Lumina School collects only the information necessary to provide education, safeguard children, and communicate with families. Data is stored securely and accessed only by authorised staff.
The school does not share information with third parties without consent unless legally required. Parents may request access to their child's records at any time.
Lumina’s uniform is designed to be simple, sensory-friendly and consistent. Teal polo shirts, checkered bottoms, and black shoes are required. All items must be labelled.
No character logos or bright colours. Winter uniform includes a teal jumper and optional navy trousers. PE uniform requires navy shorts or joggers.
Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy are integrated into the school day. Therapists work alongside teachers to support communication, regulation and functional skills. Sessions may be individual or small-group.
Therapy goals are included in each child’s IEP. Parents receive termly updates during review meetings.
